CCANW organises year-round gallery talks, workshops, events and activities in its Project Space and the surrounding forest for children and adults. These relate to the changing programme of exhibitions, artist residencies and other projects. We also have a growing book and video library of titles featuring contemporary artists whose work engages with the natural world.
We are very happy to discuss proposals for workshops made by schools and community groups. Gallery talks are free but a charge is made for workshops. Both must be booked in advance. If you would like more information on fees and activities, please email Johanna Korndorfer, Education/Community Coordinator on j.korndorfer@ccanw.co.uk.
Schools
We offer regular ‘Twilight Teachers Meetings’ introducing the current CCANW programme, workshop topics offered and the amenities of Haldon Forest Park, including the play trail.
In the past, schools have participated in Big Draw and ‘earth art’ workshops and, in relation to the 2007-8 Wood Culture exhibitions, activities for learning about trees, the environmental benefits of growing timber and the use of wood in construction.
Currently, CCANW is participating in Enquire, an exciting national research programme with the aim of exploring, assessing and articulating the special learning benefits to young people of working with contemporary art and the gallery space. In autumn 2007 a group of young people from Isca College of Media Arts will work with an artist to explore their responses to the CCANW exhibition programme.
